How to Create a Timed Quiz

Creating a timed quiz in ProProfs Quiz Maker helps you control how long learners can spend on a quiz or on individual questions. This feature is useful for maintaining assessment integrity, improving time management, and ensuring a fair testing environment.

You can either set a maximum time limit for the entire quiz or define a time limit for each question based on your requirements.

Benefits:

  • Prevents Cheating: Limits the time available, reducing the chances of looking up answers externally.

  • Improves Time Management: Encourages learners to answer within a defined timeframe.

  • Flexible Time Control: Set a total quiz duration or assign time limits per question.

Example:

An instructor conducting an online assessment wants to ensure fairness and prevent learners from spending excessive time searching for answers. By setting a time limit for the entire quiz or per question, the instructor can create a controlled and efficient testing experience.

How to Set Time Per Question In A Quiz

Step 1: Click the dropdown arrow to select the ‘Set time per question.’ A pop-up window will open.

Step 2: You can set a standard time limit for all quiz questions.

Or, choose a specific time limit for each question from the pop-up window.

Step 3: Click ‘Save’ to secure the changes.

Important Points:

1. The quiz should not be less than 15 seconds when you want to “Set time per question.”
